Cisco
Systems Spreads Message
From Global Sales Meeting
Other
Stories...
(August 2003) San
Francisco, CA --
Cisco Systems wrapped up a three week long global sales
conference at Moscone Center early this week. The entire program,
including general sessions and breakout sessions was captured by
a Bay Area company, Creative Video Services, and converted to video
on demand (VoD) lessons for internet viewing.
The VoD sessions were available for the over 15,000 employees who
sell for Cisco, as each sessions was encoded, authored and uploaded
to the company’s intranet within 72 hours of each event. This enables
those who missed the conference or individual session to view the
program in its entirety, along with any slides that may have been
presented, right at their desktop. Others commented that they use the
VoD for refreshers on Cisco’s complex and extensive product offerings,
sometimes just before making a sales call to ensure they are up to
date on the latest offerings.
The Vods also made it possible for attendees to view sessions that
were scheduled at times that conflicted with their schedule. The sales
conference offered 35 general sessions and 50 breakout sessions,
each of which was an hour. The agenda boasted motivational speeches
by Heavyweight Boxing Champ Sugar Ray Leonard, NBA Basketball
Coach Pat Riley and former Mayor of New York Rudolph Giuliani.
These high profile events were in great demand, making the VoD
presentations a valuable tool for the entire workforce to view, and
review these expensive sessions.
Finally, to wrap the Global Sales Conference up in a nice package,
Creative Video Services was able to condense the entire event on
only three DVD ROM disks. This allows executives and employees
alike to review content from their PC when internet connectivity is not
an option.
Amazingly all these services were performed at a cost that was a
fraction on the entire conference budget.
