City,
CA --
Applied Biosystems, a leading pharmaceutical and
biotechnology company, launched a year long series of lunch time lectures
designed to educate and inform their workforce. The topics range from
marketing programs to technical
genetic
materials to customer perspectives, and are part of a company wide effort to
cross-train employees. The management team feels that a wider knowledge base
of AB's core competencies will facilitate better customer service.
In order to get the message out company wide, which spans multiple
campus locations and cities, Applied Biosystems will be deploying the
discussions via a web-based video server. Each e-learning lesson, or
"module", can be accessed by employees at any time, from their
desktop or home. This gives all employees access to material, without the
added expense of travel, job downtime or multiple live presentations. The
return on investment is almost immediate.
To roll out this program, AB has called on Creative Video Services to produce,
author and manage the web content. Having produced thousands of e-Learning
content hours for Cisco Systems, CVS has refined the process to minimize
expense. The low cost to produce an event for company-wide viewing
isn't the only benefit. This method allows for quicker distribution of
information and the ability to post last minute executive announcements.
The partnership between Applied Biosystems
and Creative Video Services has been established for two sets
of "Discussion Series". If the program takes off, AB plans to expand
the use of this technology to their sales and human resources groups.
